‘HARRY POTTER and the Philosopher’s Stone’
Synopsis
The story begins with the reader being introduced to a family called the
Dursley’s, they seem like a perfectly normal family however it soon
becomes clear that all is not as it seems. For the Dursley’s look after
their nephew - Harry Potter and Harry is about to discover a magical
secret. On his eleventh birthday, Harry
learns the truth that he is in fact, a boy
wizard, that his parents were murdered
when he was a baby by the Dark Arts
wizard; Lord Voldemort and he is the Boy
Who Lived. From that point on Harry’s life
is never the same again, he embraces his
new world, finally feeling like he belongs somewhere. Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry is the setting for Harry’s first adventure with
friends Ron and Hermione, where secrets are revealed, plots are
discovered and the unimaginable happens - Voldemort returns. In the
Philosopher’s Stone, we are introduced to an array of memorable
characters and are welcomed into a World, which we will want to return

Synopsis
In this second book we rejoin Harry at the Dursley’s where an eventful visit from a
house elf leaves him with some serious trouble. Friends come to the rescue in a
car with a difference and escort him back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry for his second year. At Hogwarts there is a new defence against the
dark arts teacher with a glamorous but
questionable past and Harry finds himself
immediately thrown into a new adventure.
Strange happenings arise and Harry’s reputation is
put into question as he continually finds himself in
the wrong place at the wrong time and student’s
become literally petrified as the writing on the
wall announces:
‘The chamber of secrets has been opened, enemy’s of the heir beware’.
Harry worries that the sorting hat made a mistake when it placed him in Griffindor
house and is concerned that history will repeat itself as the Minister of magic
threatens to close the school and makes an arrest, sending a seemingly innocent
teacher to the chilling wizard prison- Azkaban. Whispering voices lead Harry to an
