C# is a relatively new language often seen as a direct competitor for Java. Although
C# has been strongly influenced by Java it has also been strongly influenced by C++ and
is best viewed as a descendent of both C++ and Java. C++ is a mature language which
is evolving slowly; Java and C# are evolving much faster and are borrowing freely from
each other. Since C# is much newer than Java, C# design is somewhat leaner A C++
or Java programmer will find much of the syntax familiar and can quickly get started in
C# but soon discovers that it is a different language which is interesting, has its own
unique expressiveness, and is full of pleasant surprises.
C# 2.0 is a significant enhancement of the C# programming language. New features
include Nullable types, partial classes, static classes, anonymous methods, and the
covariant and contravariant use of delegates. The most important addition is generics
