Abstract
A ‘Fundus Map’ is a computer generated montage
combining multiple adjacent retinal images. It is useful
for illustrating large retinal areas. This article
describes the history, ethics and methods of producing
large area fundus images, and concludes with a
tutorial on constructing your own fundus map using
Adobe?Photoshop?.

raditional fundus photography is a useful tool for
documenting a variety of retinal changes. But
because of the relatively small retinal area covered,
fundus photography presents a challenge to physicians
and ophthalmic photographers
when describing
large and diffuse retinal
diseases. The “fundus
map”, a computer-generated
montage of multiple
adjacent retinal images, is
able to illustrate large
areas of retinal disease.
