Step-by-step
Step one:
Collect files of scans and put them in a project folder.
Step two:
Start a new Illustrator file: RGB color, 81/2″ x 11.”
Save as an Illustrator (.ai) file, into the project folder.
Step three:
Turn on grids and/or add layout guides.
Step four:
“Place” bitmap images (scans).
Step five:
Create text and/or drawings using Illustrator’s tools.
Step six:
Save and print.

Fonts
?Use a limited number of Font faces-two is usually adequate.
?It’s OK to use display (decorative) faces for headlines,
but not for large blocks of text.
Effects
?Use special effects for a purpose, not for their own sake.
Effects used sparingly have more, well, effect!
If everything is bold, nothing stands out.
Alignment
?Large blocks of text are easier to read when LEFT ALIGNED.
?Centering everything impairs visual flow and readability.
Proximity
?Clump associated content.
