The following are key concepts used in the demo. However, before we go into the steps
its good to understand the differences between a “drawing program” such as Illustrator
and an “image editing program” such as Photoshop.
Photoshop is based on the world of bit map or raster imagery. The image is seen and
manipulated by changing the size and color of (pixels).
Illustrator (a drawing program) is based on the world of vector mathematics. The image
is composed of line definitions described by computer code, in other words connecting
points in space with a line that shows on your screen. The big benefit of vector imagery
is the precise control of lines or paths, very important to illustrators.
The other unique characteristic of vector art is its compact file size and resolution
independence. Resolution in a vector image is only restricted by the resolution limits of
the printer or monitor it’s viewed on. In a Photoshop image file the maximum resolution
is fixed usually by the camera or scanner, outside of artificial emulation algorithms the
native resolution cannot be…
