Radial Waves in Aurora Water | Part One
Welcome to the Aurora Water Tutorial series.
In this 2-part tutorial, we will explore the Radial Waves feature of Aurora Water. In Part 1, we will use it to create a rainfall effect. In Part 2 we will use Radial Waves to produce a composite of a humanoid character walking across a water surface, with interactive ripples.
Note: This tutorial assumes the reader has a basic working knowledge of After Effects 5.0 or later.
For our rainfall effect, we’ll want to create a slow transition from a calm water surface with a partially cloudy blue sky, to a heavy rainfall under a gray sky covered with clouds. This transition will occur within 9 to 10 seconds.
Let’s get started!
1. Start After Effects, and create a New Project and a New Composition.
2. In the Composition Settings window, use the 640 x 480 preset, and change resolution from Full to Half. This will speed up our redraw time (if you are running After Effects on a slower system, you may even want to set resolution to Quarter). Change the Duration from its default value…
