Most of the time, the best way to get from one shot
to the next is the simplest: You make a cut. However,
there are times when you want to take the viewer there
more gradually, perhaps implying the passage of time
or the change of location. Yet again, you may want to
punctuate the change of shot with an effect that
draws attention to itself. For those moments,
Adobe?Premiere?Pro 2.0 provides a large array
of video transitions. In this tutorial, we’ll apply a
cross dissolve between two clips, and then adjust its
duration and position.
The files used in this tutorial are on Disc 2 of the
Total Training Video Workshop included with Adobe
Premiere Pro. Copy either the NTSC or PAL folder
(depending on the television standard for your region)
from the Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 folder to your
desktop. Alternatively, you can follow along using your
own files. You’ll need to start an Adobe Premiere Pro
project and import two video clips.
