Edit on your laptop, finish on Matrox RT.X
With Matrox RT.X, busy video editors can use a laptop computer to capture and edit video clips while on the
road, and then later assemble their projects back in the studio. This tutorial explains how you can use Adobe
Premiere Pro on one computer as a stand-alone editing station without any dedicated Matrox hardware, and
then port your project to an RT.X finishing station for realtime playback and addition of Matrox realtime
effects, or export to MPEG-2 format for DVD authoring.
1 Acquire footage
We’ll use the Adobe Premiere Pro editing station to capture our footage using a DV-1394 device and a
compatible DV-1394 capture card. To configure Adobe Premiere Pro for DV acquisition, do the
following:
a Start a new project by choosing File > New Project.
b In the New Project dialog box, choose the available preset DV - NTSC > Standard 48kHz, and
click OK….
