Cisco VPN Client Installation Guide for Windows 2000/NT
!!Your computer must be added to the domain!!
1. Download and install the SoonerConnect self-extracting zip file under an account that has administrator privileges.
2. Once installed, the installation utility will prompt you to restart your machine.
3. After reboot login to the computer and start the VPN Dialer. Start>Programs>Cisco Systems VPN Client>VPN Dialer
4. Choose the proper connection entry according to your access service.
5. Next, click on the option button and select “Start Before Login” fig1.1

6. Close the VPN Dialer, right click on “My Network Places” and select properties.
7. Right click on the “Local Area Connection” and select properties.
8. Double-click on Internet Protocol TCP/IP and select the advanced button.
9. Select the WINS tab in the TCP/IP advanced settings window, and create a static WINS server by clicking add and entering 157.142.8.10. fig 1.2Fig 1.2
10. Right click on “My Computer” and select properties. Click on the network identification tab and select properties.
11. Verify the computer name and select the domain radio button. Enter the appropriate domain name eg. “OUHSC”. You will need to call to have the computer account enabled for the OUHSC domain, or have the access rights to add a computer to another domain.
12. Close all open windows and restart the computer.
13. When Ctrl Alt Del is pressed to login to the computer the VPN Dialer will be initialized after a short time unless canceled. Select the proper profile and click connect, you will now be prompted with a login. After authentication the VPN Dialer will minimize and you can now login to the computer. Make sure to select the proper domain when logging in!
CAVEATS
1. Access denied pop up alert after logon, click “OK” to proceed. This is due to a misinterpretation during the drive mapping process network shares are still available.
2. Logoff without termination of the VPN session will cause the client to error on next logon. The resolution is to either terminate the VPN session prior to logoff or…
