WINTER 2007Sidebar Blackhawk Museum Docents can log in a lot of
hours every year on the polished black granite in
the two auto galleries!
Blackhawk Docents can stay pretty fi t with the
stair-climbing opportunities they have while
touring groups from the Lower Auto Gallery to the
Upper Auto Gallery.and back to the Museum’s
Reception Lobby.
The Museum provides Docent-led tours of the
exhibitions at 2 PM every Saturday and Sunday,
and visitors queue up when the “Public Tour”
announcement comes through the public address
system.
Docents have related that they start with an
intimately small group.ten to twelve people, and
the group ‘grows’ as the tour continues through
the galleries.
Several Docents prefer touring school groups
rather than doing public tours.other Docents
enjoy leading tours and serving as Gallery Hosts
during the Museum’s numerous catered events.
and some Docents ’specialize’ in touring the
many car clubs that visit throughout the year.
The Outreach Opportunities inside the Museum,
combined with those outside the Museum at
concours events, schools, service organization
meetings, and community fairs, support
Blackhawk’s mission of being an important and
effective educational institution.
