Macromedia Dreamweaver Tutorial
Introduction
Macromedia Dreamweaver is one of the many visual HTML editors in the market.
Visual HTML editors in the past have proven to be more of a hassle rather than a
helpful tool for web designers due to reasons such as non-standard and poor HTML
code generation using proprietary extensions. Dreamweaver has changed that by
providing not only correct HTML code generation but with support for Dynamic HTML
(DHTML) as well as site management, JavaScript libraries and a clever design which
allows Dreamweaver to be easily extended and adapted to new HTML standards.
DHTML
DHTML is a standardized technology for web pages that use Hypertext Markup
Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and rely on JavaScript to make
the web pages interactive. DHTML is a feature of version 4.0 browsers and higher
and is entirely a “client-side” technology. It relies only the browser for the display and
manipulation of the web pages and is unrelated to other client-side technologies like
Java or Flash.
Although the underlying technologies of DHTML (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) are
standardized, the manner in which Netscape and Microsoft have implemented them
differ dramatically….
