Marist Wireless / Cisco VPN - User’s Guide
1. Obtain the latest version of the Cisco Systems VPN Client from the ResNet website: http://resnet.marist.edu/wireless (this site also has current information on what areas of the Marist campus are wireless). After you have downloaded and installed the latest version (and rebooted your machine), you are ready to set up your machine to connect to the Marist wireless network.
2. If you are running Windows 2000, connecting to a wireless network is dependent on the software that came with your wireless card. You must connect to airfox, and then you can skip to step 7. Windows XP users can follow this entire guide.
3. You first need to connect to the “airfox” wireless network in Windows, before you can logon with the VPN client. Open control panel, and double click “Network Connections.” Double click the connection that is for your wireless card, in the image below, it is listed as “Wireless Network Connection.”4. Now you want to connect to the “airfox” network. You should see a screen similar to the one below. Select the “airfox” network (which should be the only one you see) and then click the connect button in the lower right.
5. Since the VPN client will handle encrypting and decrypting your data, you may see a warning when you try to connect. Simply click the “Connect Anyway” button to connect to “airfox.”…
