MM01 Cellular Telephone Campus Navigation System
Finding a desired location on the university campus can be confusing for first time
visitors. The objective of this project is to help these people by developing a navigation
application that can run on their cellular telephone to tell them where they are located and
how to get to their desired destination. The user location will be performed based on
measurements from the university WLAN network. Nokia has donated some of its latest
generation Nokia N80 cellular telephones to the department for this project. The Nokia
N80 terminals have cellular telephone, Bluetooth, and WLAN networking capabilities as
well as having two integrated high resolution cameras. The Nokia N80 terminals are
based on the opensource
Symbian operating system.
By participating in this project, students will gain experience with the development of
software applications on portable devices and the functionality of wireless local area
networks. This project is suitable for a group of 23
