LEVELS OF COMPLETION
The “Levels of Completion” process is a building-block
approach to completing a trade certificate program or a Related
Trade Instruction program for apprenticeship. Students can
choose to complete only the first level or the first and second
level or all levels depending upon the level of skill and
knowledge desired. Students can apply for a skill certificate
upon completion of level 1. A second skill certificate can be
applied for after the completion of level 2.
Level one, Machine Operator I, provides basic machining,
blueprint reading, and applied basic math skills. This is a
one-year apprenticeable trade.
Level two, Machine Tool Set-Up Operator, provides Level One
training along with applied algebra, manual drafting, geometric
dimensioning and tolerancing, basic numerical control
programming, and learning to use the machinist’s handbook.
This is a two-year apprenticeable trade.
Level three allows the students to complete the courses specific
to the trade they are pursuing. After completing levels one and
two, the student has completed approximately the first half of
the following programs: Die Designer, Die Maker, Machinist,
Moldmaker, Tool Designer, Tool and Die Maker, and Toolmaker.
