Your Children Need to Study Calculus in High School

Introduction
Each year, the United Nations generates an HDI, or Human Development Index1, ranking the
countries from best to worst. In 2005, the top 5 HDI countries had almost a 100% literacy rate,
while in the bottom 5, two-thirds of the population aged 15 and older could not read or write. The
top 5 countries are 85% Christian or Catholic, while the bottom 5 countries were 85% Muslim or
indigenous religions.
There is a reason why the bottom 5 countries are the worst places in the world to live and it has
much to do with their illiteracy and their religions that leave them with a confused view of the
world. Jesus has commanded us to go and teach all nations (Matthew 28:26), which means that
we are not to assume these countries will eventually figure things out on their own. We need to
know His word and His works well enough to teach others, but we will not be very effective…
