Converting a Drawing from 3D to 2D
Designing in 3D has its obvious advantages, from seeing relationships between elements, to representing the final product in a realistic way. But in the majority of cases, the final document used to build or manufacture the design is a set of 2D drawings. With AutoCAD?2007 software, there is a simple way to get from that exquisite 3D model to those utilitarian 2D detailed designs, and that is by using FLATSHOT.
If you have a 3D drawing, you don’t need to recreate it to convert it to a 2D drawing. You can use the new FLATSHOT command in AutoCAD 2007 to automate the process. FLATSHOT converts all 3D objects in model space to 2D (turning them into a block), projects them on the XY plane, and lets you choose how to handle the blocks.
