Implementing BOMA Standards with FMDesktop
FMDesktop. software provides users the ability to implement and report space designation standards as outlined in the BOMA 1980 and BOMA 1996 standards “Standard Method for Measuring Floor Area in Office Buildings.”
This paper will provide details on how to use FMDesktop to assign the primary BOMA designations to spaces and produce a variety of BOMA-based reports. What is now Autodesk?Facility Manager software, a component of FMDesktop, started supporting BOMA reporting in version 5.8, providing several new reports that use space designations to calculate BOMA compliant space utilization reports. FMDesktop version 7.0 makes BOMA reporting even easier, so you don’t need to return to the design environment to update graphical reports.
Both versions of the BOMA standard provide guidelines for creating polylines and reporting on space designations. For complete details, please refer to BOMA International publications, ANSI Z65.1 - 1980 and BOMA/ANSI Z65.1 - 1996.
