FCC documents hint that the handset will feature iTunes
The ROKR E2 from Motorola has been approved by the FCC. This is the second edition of
the ROKR model, which was the first phone to feature iTunes. The handset is essentially an
upgrade, trying to solve the problems which made the original ROKR receive negative
feedback.
Although the prototype presented at CES 2006 didn’t feature iTunes, the FCC documents
hint that the Apple software might be included after all. The handset will run on the new
Linux based operating system and it will feature a 1.3 megapixel camera and a QVGA
display. The flight mode will also be present, allowing users to listen to music and access
the features non-related to calling while disconnected from the network.
Others features include FM radio, memory expansion via miniSD cards and Bluetooth
connectivity. This time the ROKR E2 will support USB 2.0 for faster data transfer rates. A
dedicated menu will allow quick access to musical controls such as Play, Pause, Skip,
Forward/Backward.
Details about pricing and availability are yet unknown.
