Starting and Quitting
OpenOffice has three pieces of software to run it:
a. “Start OpenOffice.org,” by Terry Teague. This is used to launch OpenOffice.
b. The program itself, “OpenOffice 1.1.2.”
c. “X11″ a Macintosh application that supports the use of OpenOffice.
1. Start OpenOffice by double clicking on the application “Start OpenOffice.org.app,”
located in the “OpenOffice.org.1.1.2″ folder.Macintosh OSX Panther

2. You will be asked to locate “your OpenOffice.org installation folder.” Do so,
scrolling if necessary. Click once on it. The launch will continue.
3. The first time you use OpenOffice, you will be asked to locate the X11 application by
Macintosh. It should be near the end of the list presented. Click on it. The launch
will continue.
NOTE: X11 is in the Utilities folder, and is part of the OS install. If you do not find
X11, quit the launch. Get the original install CDs. You will find X11 there and
can install it. OR you can download it from Apple’s site on the internet,
www.apple.com….
