The brand new Sonata now matches and in some cases even surpasses the
dimensions of its main competitors like the Accord, Altima, and Camry. It
boasts a 40% more rigid body structure. In addition, it features two new
engines-a four-cylinder and a V6-and a new five-speed automatic
transmission for the V6. Hyundai has also put a lot of emphasis on safety
with its wide range of standard equipment. The Sonata is a front-wheel-drive
sedan available in four-cylinder GL, V6 GL, or V6 GLS versions.
Interior and trunk
The Sonata’s seats are easy to get into and very comfortable for those who
appreciate firm support. The driving position is very good thanks to the
telescopic steering wheel and ample legroom. However, with the sunroof,
headroom is a bit tight for taller people.
The rear bench seat is comfortable for two adults only. The height of the
central tunnel and the shape of the cushion keep just about anyone from
sitting comfortably in the middle. Plus, Hyundai didn’t deem it worthwhile to
