The second generation Forester recently
launched by Subaru is set to build on the
popularity of the outgoing model by offering a
comprehensive range of improvements.
Mechanical changes include the fitting of a
larger capacity engine (up from 2.0 litres to 2.5
litres) for stronger performance,
comprehensive chassis and suspension
modifications (plus upgraded wheel and tyre
specifications) for improved handling and
driveability, and increased braking capacity.
Subaru says that it has achieved significant
increases in body rigidity for the new Forester,
thus improving crashworthiness, reducing NVH
(noise, vibration and harshness levels) and
contributing to better handling and driveability.
Commendably (given the increased
structural strength), new Forester is an average
five kilograms lighter across the range, with
some models up to 25 kg lighter. Aluminium
