The fifth generation of Volkswagen Golf went
on sale in Australia in late 2004. It brings
Europe’s no 1 selling range into Australian
showrooms at prices that start at under
$26,000. It is an all new design that takes its
cues from the previous model. There are softer
elements to its external appearance and the
cabin design is also new yet familiar. There is
still no mistaking the new model for any thing
other than a Golf.

PRICING
The new range of Golfs start at $25,490 for the
1.6 Trendline manual. The automatic version
tested has a RRP of $27,790, a $2300 option
across the Golf range. The 1.6 Trendline is the
