Course Description
“A one-semester freshman course on a variety of topics teaches writing as a means of acquiring, as well as
expressing, ideas. Students examine essay components as a way of developing and refining their own ideas;
write multiple-draft summary, analysis, argument, and research papers; and learn how to avoid plagiarism.”

Course Goals
As one of the foundation courses in the general education curriculum at Niagara, Writing 100 helps you
learn how to develop critical thinking, information literacy, and written communication skills. In this
course, as well as in other general education courses, you will learn how to:
