ISC “How To” instructions:
Scanning Photographs
These directions are specifically geared towards using the scanners in the Instructional Support Services
faculty labs (Hewlett Packard ScanJet 3300C). The graphics program Adobe Photoshop is also used in
these instructions. Your own scanner and graphics program may be different, but you can still apply the
concepts outlined here to your own environment.
Part 1: Getting Started
If the computer and scanner are not on, you must turn the scanner on before turning the computer on.
Please note that the majority of scanners present in the ISC labs are always on and do not have an
on/off switch.
Insert your storage media (floppy disk or ZIP cartridge) into the appropriate drive on the computer.
Start Adobe Photoshop by clicking on the Start button in the lower left hand corner of the computer
screen. Select Programs, then Applications, then Adobe, then select Photoshop (Please not that
the location of the program may differ from computer to computer).
Open the File menu, select Import, then choose Select Twain_32 Source.
Select HP PrecisionScan LT 3.0, then click on the Select button.
