1 Renaming a layer We heard you loud and clear. Renaming layers in 6.0 wasn’t as easy as it used to be.
Well, I think we’ve fi nally reached a solution that will work for everyone! In Photoshop 7 you can rename
a layer (or layer set) by simply double clicking on the layer name in the Layers palette and typing - right
on screen. That’s right, there’s no longer the need to use a separate dialog box simply to rename a layer.
When you’re fi nished naming the layer press the Enter key to apply the name change. For those of you
who have now become accustomed to accessing the Layer Styles dialog box by double clicking on a
layer, simply add the Option (Mac)/ Alt (Win) key and double click on the layer. Finally, if you’re one of
those organized types and love to color code your layers, then control (Mac)/ right mouse (Win) in the
layer and select “Layer Properties” from the context sensitive menu to rename a layer and choose a color
