I-mate Launches the I-mate JAQ Handheld
Every JAQ device sold will probably have a free 10 MB e-mail address, hosted by
Microsoft Exchange.
Like the just launched SPL, the I-mate JAQ is a Pocket PC phone designed from ground up
by I-mate, despite the rumors that say it is a re-branded HTC Excalibur. In fact, the specs of
the device don’t match up with the ones of the Excalibur, the first thing noticeable being its
larger 2.8 inch 320×240 QVGA TFT LCD display, with 65k colors and touchscreen,
compared with the 2.4 inch display of the HTC device.
The handheld will be a quadband, with support for GSM 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS and
EDGE, with a 1.3 megapixel camera, a QWERTY keyboard, IrDA and Bluetooth 1.2.
The JAQ has a Intel TI OMAP850 200 Mhz processor, with 64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM and
a miniSD memory card expansion slot, running a Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating
system. This brings in another addition, the set of Windows Mobile Office applications:
Word Mobile, Excel Mobile and PowerPoint Mobile. The rumor says I-mate is ready…
