…The Xacti is the video camera for the one armed man who has either baby or drink in the other, another way to relax the relatives and loll them in to a false sense of security while filming. All necessary buttons like zoom, rec, playback are presented for your thumb. In use this nearly works but you do have to have slightly bigger hands than me to comfortably zoom to full distance in an upwards motion while still holding on to your drink/baby. Switching to 5 MP still images is as easy as choosing a parallel control to the video clip, but still in reach of your thumb.
To switch from SD to HD video just press a button on the side and a letter box shape will appear to create the widescreen effect for your HDTV.
The lens has a 10X optical zoom with an additional 10X digital which isn’t really worth using. Still pictures are a joy to use with an image stabiliser and 5.1 MP on tap. There is further interpolation of the pixels to 10MP which isn’t that effective and just eats up card space.
