Canon EOS-IDs Mark lll Review

Canon EOS-IDs Mark lll ReviewShort Description
I have to be honest and admit I had trouble writing a critical review about Canon’s newest iteration of its flagship camera—the EOS-1Ds Mark III. Why, you might ask? Here is a camera that produces stunning images, proving that technology improves the breed. What’s not to like? It has a 21.1-megapixel sensor, which means it can easily be used to produce 13 x 19 prints at 300dpi without interpolation or 20 x 30 prints at 180dpi. It is a fantastic camera for photographers looking to make exquisite large prints.

Part of the improved image quality is the camera’s 14-bit Analog-to- Digital (A/D) conversion process. It is able to recognize 16,384 colors per channel (four times the number of colors recognized by the EOS-1Ds Mark II’s 12-bit conversion capability). Photographers who are used to processing RAW images will notice the improvement. Anyone who uses an EOS-1 series camera will feel immediately at home as its controls are familiar. Anyone who pines after film cameras will appreciate the full-size sensor allowing the camera to match the focal length of a 35mm lens and the resultant shallower depth of field with long lenses.
