Network Setup Guide NEW.pub
Short Description
This guide outlines the procedures for networking Schedule Star. Thoroughly review this guide with your network administrator before proceeding. Sharing Schedule Star across a local area network (LAN) gives multiple users simultaneous access to the same data. Since every user is working from a single copy of Schedule Star, networking avoids the confusion and risks of trying to synchronize multiple copies of the program using backup disks. A change made by one user appears almost instantly, keeping everyone up to date on scheduling changes. A view-only mode lets you share schedules while protecting your sensitive data. Your purchase agreement allows for unlimited networked copies with no additional “per seat” licensing fees.

If you want to share Schedule Star with only one or two other users, we recommend networking from an existing client machine, nominating it as the Schedule Star “server.” This will simplify setup, protect the users from main server downtime, and make installing upgrades and add-ons easier since they will still install to the default C:AOA directory.
For sharing Schedule Star with a large number of clients, we recommend moving the program to a central server drive. A full-scale server is better equipped to handle multiple-user access, and the added stability and security of server-level operating systems is advantageous to sharing sensitive data with a large number of users. Server-level security is also better suited to working with Schedule Star’s fullaccess and and read-only modes (see Sharing Controls on page 4).
