Key Lessons From the IBM Server Groups Upgrade Experience
Short Description
We expect to see a great deal of upgrade activity in the near term. As PeopleSoft customers consider what Oracle might do, their safest course of action is to upgrade to at least PeopleSoft Version 8.8 as quickly as possible. By so doing, they will extend the maintenance window, get to a much improved release (over Version 8.0), and hedge their bets as to what their future course of action might be (e.g., move to Oracle, migrate to another ERP vendor, maintain what they have indefinitely). In addition, SAP is making some attractive offers to its customers to get them beyond R/3 4.6C and upgraded to mySAP ERP or the mySAP Business Suite.

If so, did the field exist? If the field existed, did the field length change? The LiveCompare program highlighted all changes automatically, and those changes were then fed into an ABAP program (custom developed by IBM), which essentially determined, on a “where used” basis, what custom programs needed to be changed. The IBM team could then assign programs individually for change. In point of fact, when all programs were changed, they ran with zero defects.
