1. Loosen the upper triple clamp bolts, 1 per side, with a 12mm socket or wrench.
2. Turn the handlebars to the left steering stop.
3. Loosen the fork cap SLIGHTLY, with a 24mm wrench or socket. If you don’t do this now, you may have to use excessive clamping force once the forks are off the bike, with possible damage to the fork tubes. If you feel like you’re using excessive force and the cap is not budging, ensure the upper triple fork tube pinch bolt is loose!
4. Lift the front of the bike so that the wheel is in the air. If you don’t have a head lift fork stand, you may be able to use straps or other means to suspend the bike via handlebars from a strong attachment point in the ceiling.
5. Remove the calipers via the 2x 14mm bolts per caliper. Slide the calipers off of the brake rotors. Hang the calipers out of the way.
6. Remove the 3x 8mm bolts holding the brake lines to the fender and forks.
7. Remove the wheel – remove the 12mm pinch bolt on the right side fork bottom (right side sitting on bike), followed by the axle, using a 12mm hex socket.
8. Remove the clamps for the speedo cable, 2 10mm bolts.
