E39 - BMW Accessory Navigation System Speed Input Signal
Short Description
During the installation of the BMW Accessory Navigation System into E39 vehicles, the speed signal input (male pin # 3 in the connector X322) cannot be found. Since July of 1999 production, the separate speed signal (Speed-A) output harness has been eliminated from series production. The speed information is now made available to the connected control modules in the form of a telegram via the body bus (K-bus). By design, the Accessory Navigation System is not capable to extract speed signal information from the K-Bus.

Revealed in Frankfurt Motor Show in 1985, production started in march 1986 with 325i, followed in july 1986 with 320i. In september 1987, both versions were fitted with catalytic converter.
